Summary Explanation/Background
THE PORT EVERGLADES DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.
During the inaugural season of Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. (“Princess Cruises”) Sun Princess cruise ship beginning in October 2024, Princess Cruises requested to place the Princess Sea Witch logo in a vinyl applique on the east section of the sky walk bridge connecting the Heron Garage and Cruise Terminal 2 at Port Everglades. The Port Everglades Department agreed, conditioned on Princess Cruises also placing the Port Everglades logo on the west section of the same sky walk bridge.
Based on that request and as authorized by Section 16.2(j) of the Broward County Administrative Code, on June 2, 2025, the Port Everglades Chief Executive/Port Director approved a one-year nonexclusive revocable License Agreement between Broward County and Princess Cruises for a Limited Purpose and Term retroactive to October 1, 2024, and expiring on September 30, 2025 (the “Agreement”), wherein County granted to Princess Cruises, at no cost for such grant (except the costs associated with Princess Cruises’ obligations as set forth in the Agreement), the authorization to enter Port Everglades for the limited purposes of: (a) placing the Princess Sea Witch logo in a vinyl applique on the east section of the sky walk bridge between the Heron Garage and Cruise Terminal 2 at Port Everglades; (b) placing the Port Everglades logo in a vinyl applique on the west section of the same sky walk bridge; (c) maintaining the aforementioned Princess Sea Witch logo and Port Everglades logo; and (d) thereafter removing the aforementioned Princess Sea Witch logo.
Princess Cruises has met its above-referenced obligations regarding placement and maintenance of the logos and has requested that the Agreement be extended. As both logos remain in excellent condition, the parties desire to extend the Agreement for an additional four years so that Princess Cruises can continue to display and maintain the logos.
The Amendment has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney. The Amendment is still being routed within Princess Cruises for final approval. The Board will be notified if the signature page is not received prior to the Board meeting.
