THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the Broward County Mobility Advancement Program (“MAP”) goal to “enhance multimodal options” by “improving safety of multimodal travel options.”
Nob Hill Road from Orange Drive to Whispering Pines Road is a County road in the Town of Davie. Broward County and the Town of Davie agreed that it would be mutually beneficial to the residents to install a lighting system along both sides of this road segment to improve safety for all users. The street lighting project funded by Transportation Surtax is included in the Five-Year Capital Program for Fiscal Year 2025-2029.
This item seeks Commission approval of an Interlocal Agreement (“Agreement”) between Broward County (“County”) and the Town of Davie for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a lighting system along both sides of Nob Hill Road from Orange Drive to Whispering Pines Road for approximately 0.5 miles (Exhibit 1). Under the Agreement, the County will be responsible for the design and construction of the lighting system. The County has already completed the design of the project. Upon project completion, the Town of Davie will be responsible for all costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the lighting system, as well as the electrical energy and any other utility charges. The County can terminate the Agreement with or without cause. The construction cost of the project is estimated at $398,000.
