Summary Explanation/Background

District 9’s office projects an excess in budgeted office funds for Fiscal Year 2026 that it would like to use to provide funding to the City of Lauderdale Lakes and the charitable organizations in the amounts and for the purposes described below:

 

$500 for the City of Lauderdale Lakes. The City of Lauderdale Lakes will utilize the donated funds to support its annual Senior Gala.

 

$500 for Alan and Michelle Alexander Ministries, Inc. (“Alexander Ministries”). Alexander Ministries is a nonprofit organization that provides food assistance and community outreach in Broward County. The donated funds will be restricted to support its nonreligious mentorship program, open to all, regardless of religion.

 

$500 for Christian Community Church of God, Inc. (“Christian Community”). Christian Community is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Broward County that provides food distribution, youth activities, and family support programs for the community. The donated funds will be restricted to support its food pantry program and teachers’ breakfast.

 

$2,050 for Coast To Coast Legal Aid of South Florida, Inc. (“Coast to Coast Legal Aid”). Coast to Coast Legal Aid is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free civil legal services to low-income Broward County residents. The funds will be used to further the purposes of the organization.

 

$1,000 for Friends of the Broward County African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, Inc. (“AARLCC Friends”). AARLCC Friends is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the programs, collections, and cultural offerings of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale through fundraising, community engagement, and educational initiatives. The funds will be used to further the purposes of the organization.

 

$5,000 for Island SPACE Caribbean Museum (“Island SPACE”). Island SPACE is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing arts, culture, history, and educational initiatives that represent the Caribbean region in South Florida and the broader diaspora community. The donated funds will be used to support its building fund.

 

$600 for BSN Radio Gospel Ministry. BSN Radio Gospel Ministry is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates a radio program. The donated funds will be restricted to support its Community Resource & Empowerment Initiative, which provides information to the public regarding secular community resources related to health and wellness, mental health, community and technology programs, and youth education and career programs.

 

$600 for All Nations New Testament Church of God Fellowship (“All Nations”). All Nations is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Broward County that provides community support programs, including food assistance. The donated funds will be restricted to support its food distribution and nonreligious outreach program, open to all, regardless of religion.

 

$2,000 for Miami-Broward One Carnival Host Committee, Inc. (“One Carnival”). One Carnival is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that plans and presents the annual Miami Carnival, a Caribbean cultural festival celebrating music, costumes, and traditions, while promoting cultural heritage, tourism, and economic activity in South Florida. The funds will be used to further the purposes of the organization.

 

$1,500 for New Life Fellowship Center C.O.G., Inc. (“New Life Fellowship”). New Life Fellowship is a nonprofit organization in Broward County that provides community support programs, including youth services and food assistance. The donated funds will be restricted to support its food pantry and nonreligious summer youth programs, open to all, regardless of religion.

 

$2,500 for People Profile, Inc. (“People Profile”). People Profile is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting underserved communities through leadership development, cultural enrichment, youth engagement, and international outreach initiatives. The funds will be used to further the purposes of the organization.

 

$500 for Project Men Inc. (“Project Men”). Project Men is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to mentor and empower young men by teaching principles of manhood and encouraging them to be persistent in achieving their goals and to become inspirational, strong, responsible, and productive members of their communities. The funds will be used to further the purposes of the organization.

 

$500 for The Episcopal Church of the Atonement, Inc. (“Episcopal Church”). Episcopal Church is a nonprofit organization in Lauderdale Lakes that provides food distribution and community outreach programs. The donated funds will be restricted to support its youth reading programming.

 

$500 for Victory Place International Worship Center, Inc. (“Victory Place”). Victory Place is a nonprofit organization in Broward County that provides youth mentoring, family support, and community assistance programs. The donated funds will be restricted to support its secular community leaders outreach initiative.

 

$750 for Word Alive Worship Center, Inc. (“Word Alive”). Word Alive is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports families in Broward County through educational outreach, wellness seminars, and community assistance programs. The donated funds will be restricted to support its nonreligious wellness seminars and outreach programs, open to all, regardless of religion.

 

$500 for The Faith Center. The Faith Center is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit church organization in Broward County. The donated funds will be restricted to support its food pantry program.

 

$500 for First Baptist Church of Sunrise (“First Baptist”). First Baptist is a nonprofit organization serving the Sunrise community. The donated funds will be restricted to support its food pantry program.

 

$4,000 for Youth Empowerment Village, Inc. (“Youth Empowerment”). Youth Empowerment is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides mentorship, educational support, and leadership training for young people in Broward County to help them achieve academic success and career readiness. The donated funds will be used to support its Children’s Week activities in Tallahassee.

 

District 9’s goal is to provide $24,000 in Fiscal Year 2026 projected excess office account funds to the referenced municipality and these charitable organizations for the stated purposes. To the extent required by Florida law, the applicable agreement would require the donated funds to be fully utilized by December 31, 2026. If approved, this item would authorize the County Administrator to execute agreements prepared by the County Attorney’s Office to effectuate these donations.
