Why Action is Necessary

It is necessary to schedule a public hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners prior to transmittal of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.

 

What Action Accomplishes

The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a public hearing for February 3, 2026, to consider transmittal to designated State review agencies of proposed map amendment PC 26-1, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan, pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background

The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed map amendment, PC 26-1, at its December 4, 2025 public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the applicant’s voluntary commitment to dedicate approximately ten acres of park and open space, and including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 11-0; Abramson, Fernandez, Fisher, Geller, Greenberg, Hardin, Levy, Newbold, Rosenof, Ryan and DiGiorgio):

 

AMENDMENT PC 26-1

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Lauderhill

 

From Commercial Recreation within a Dashed-Line Area to Irregular (9) Residential within a Dashed-Line Area

 

Approximately 132.6 acres; generally located between Oakland Park Boulevard and Northwest 44 Street and between Inverrary Boulevard West and Rock Island Road.

 

Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
