Summary Explanation/Background
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/REAL PROPERTY AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
To improve resiliency during hurricanes and severe weather and enhance reliability during day-to-day conditions, Florida Power & Light Company’s (“FPL”) lateral hardening program, also known as the Storm Secure Underground Program, aims to convert overhead neighborhood lines to underground. As part of this program, the electric lines serving the lift station located at 4550 SW 38 Street, West Park, FL 33023, have been chosen for conversion to underground. The Broward County Water and Wastewater Services manages the lift station.
To complete the conversion to underground, FPL is requesting a perpetual, non-exclusive underground easement (“Easement”) from the County to place the necessary equipment to serve the lift station. The Easement is attached as Exhibit 1.
The Easement has been reviewed and approved for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney.
