Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION, AND THE RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

The Broward County Risk Management Division requests authorization for Amy Lanham, Director of Risk Management, and Christopher Clouse, Acting Assistant Director of Risk Management, to travel to London, England. Amy Lanham and Christopher Clouse will be attending the 2025 - 2026 Property Renewal Meetings with the Lloyds of London Underwriters from December 15 - 21, 2024 (Exhibit 1).

 

These meetings will provide a valuable opportunity to create a favorable impression and obtain the best possible coverage and costs. Preliminarily appointments have been scheduled with over 25 underwriters over a three-day period to provide a thorough walk-through in anticipation of a challenging market and ensures that underwriters are comfortable with the quality of the County’s Risk Management team and their ability to manage the County’s risk profile.

 

Meetings will be added to discuss opportunities for insuring other County risks, of which, Lloyds of London provides creative and unique ways to maximize risk transfers and efficiently allocate our premium dollars. The meetings will also be used to highlight leaderships knowledge of the program, associated risks, risk reduction activities, and to further discuss the County’s focus and commitment to resiliency efforts within the County-Wide Risk Assessment and Resilience Plan.
