Summary Explanation/Background
THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE HOUSING AND URBAN PLANNING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On June 6, 2023 (Agenda Item No. 51), the Board of County Commissioners authorized the County Administrator to execute the Agreement between Broward County (“County”) and City of Fort Lauderdale (“City”), authorizing the City to utilize County-owned property located at 1000 Southwest 2 Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 (Folio No. 504209350010), commonly known as the former site of the Broward Addiction Recovery Center (“BARC”), for a temporary construction staging and parking area while the City redevelops the Fort Lauderdale Police Department (the “Agreement”). The Agreement was executed on June 21, 2023, which provided the City with temporary, non-exclusive use of the Staging Area, subject to the terms contained therein. The term of the Agreement expired on December 20, 2024. Both parties now desire to enter into this Amendment, which reinstates the Agreement retroactive to December 20, 2024, and extends the term to December 31, 2026.
The Reinstatement and Amendment to Agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
