Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action allows BCAD to accept grant funding from FDOT for the construction of the Project.
The total cost for the Project is estimated to be $3,789,344 (“Project Cost”). As outlined in the PTGA, FDOT will provide grant funding for 80% of the Project Cost, an estimated $3,031,475. Broward County (“County”) will fund the remaining 20% of the Project Cost, estimated to be $757,869 and will cover any Project cost overruns.
The Project will construct a 3,355-square-foot standalone administration and maintenance facility that includes offices, a conference room, breakroom, communications room, restrooms, mechanical, electrical, and janitorial rooms, and a reception area. The Project also includes access control systems and a CCTV camera system, as well as a covered walkway canopy connecting the new administration building to the existing administration building and the maintenance facility. According to the HWO Master Plan Update, Demand Capacity, and Facility Requirements, the current facility is undersized and does not meet its current staffing levels and storage needs.
The proposed PTGA has been reviewed by the Office of the County Attorney. The PTGA does not include the County's standard Agreement provisions as FDOT requires the County to use its form agreement.
