MOTION TO DIRECT County Attorney’s Office to draft agreements for the donation of County Commission District 8 excess budgeted office account funds for Fiscal Year 2026 to (i) Zeta Chi 1954 Education and Foundation, Inc., in an amount of up to $33,000, to fund its community service programs; and (ii) the Florida Emergency Management Association Inc., in the amount of $100, to fund disaster relief programs for the elderly, homeless, or impoverished; and to authorize the County Administrator to execute the agreements, subject to review and approval as to legal sufficiency by the County Attorney’s Office, and to take all necessary administrative and budgetary actions to implement same. Zeta Chi 1954 Education and Foundation, Inc., is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that provides a number of community programs including financial literacy programs, food drives, and community restoration projects. Florida Emergency Management Association Inc. is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that provides disaster relief for the elderly, homeless, or impoverished.
District 8 office has remaining Fiscal Year 2026 budgeted funds that it would like to provide to these entities to fund the referenced programs. These organizations need financial assistance to continue to carry out those efforts, and it is District 8’s goal to further their missions through these proposed agreements.
This item is submitted after the deadline for supplemental items in order to confirm the amounts available and the intended recipients; and this item should not be deferred to a subsequent meeting because the amounts at issue are Fiscal Year 2026 funds.
