Why Action is Necessary
Broward County Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) approval is required for the execution of this Public Transportation Grant Agreement (“PTGA”).

Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action allows BCAD to accept grant funding from FDOT for the design of the Taxilane T8 Widening Project (“Project”) at FLL.
The total design project cost is estimated to be $600,000 (“Project Cost”). As outlined in the PTGA, FDOT will provide grant funding for 50% of the Project Cost, estimated to be $300,000. Broward County (“County”) will fund the remaining 50% of the Project Cost, estimated to be $300,000, while covering any Project Cost overruns.
The proposed Project is to design the widening of Taxilane T8 from a single taxilane to a dual Airplane Design Group III Taxilane. The widening of Taxilane T8 at FLL will allow different types of aircraft to access Terminal 4 and the future Terminal 5, as well as provide eight additional Remote Overnight aircraft parking spaces near the Terminal 4 Apron. This widening project will significantly enhance access to the Terminal 4 Apron. Additionally, the Project will increase operational efficiency, provide redundancy and prevent future disruptions to airport operations due to taxilane closures.
The proposed PTGA was reviewed by the Office of the County Attorney. The PTGA does not include the County's standard Agreement provisions as FDOT requires the County to use its form Agreement.
