Summary Explanation/Background

The Broward Sheriff’s Office supports this LETF request for the Tamarac District to purchase Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR). Tamarac District would like to purchase three speed trailers equipped with LPR cameras. This advanced technology allows law enforcement to detect wanted vehicles that pass through preidentified areas where the trailers are stationed. The trailers can be moved to meet the needs of complexed areas. These are federal funds that were earmarked for Tamarac as a result of participation of BSO deputies assigned to the Tamarac District in a BSO task force that received federal funds.
