Adjusts the personnel cap by reducing 97 positions to reflect changes in Fiscal Year 2025.

Item No. 12 approved by the Board on 10/8/24 adopted the Fiscal Year 25 personnel cap.

 

Summary Explanation/Background

Because the Constitutional Tax Collector takes office on January 7, 2025, 101 positions currently in the Finance and Administrative Services Department, Records, Taxes and Treasury Division are transferred to the Constitutional Tax Collector, and are thus no longer included in the annual total personnel cap, as is the case with all county Constitutional Officers.

 

Office of the Inspector General - three positions are added to work on investigations involving the School Board of Broward County. Associated costs will be borne by the School Board.

 

County Attorney - one new position is added to the County Attorney’s Office to work on Surtax program and projects.

Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary

The Fiscal Year 25 budget associated with the 101 positions transferred to the Constitutional Tax Collector is being transferred from the Finance and Administrative Services Department Records Taxes and Treasury Division to the Constitutional Tax Collector in the Fiscal Year 25 first supplemental budget.

 

The three new positions for the Office of the Inspector General are funded from the School Board of Broward County per the terms of the interlocal agreement and is appropriated in the Fiscal Year 25 first supplemental budget.

 

The additional County Attorney position will be funded from Transportation Surtax revenues.
