Previous Action Taken

On January 23, 2024, the Board adopted a Resolution setting the Public Hearing for February 20, 2024 (Item No. 29).

Summary Explanation/Background

THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE URBAN PLANNING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The applicant, Spear Acquisition, is requesting to rezone an approximately 5.0 net acre site from A-1: Agricultural Estate to PDD: Planned Development District, for a property located east of Lyons Road and north of Hillsboro Boulevard.  The property is developed with a single-family house and is the site of a former plant nursery.  It is proposed for development with fifteen (15) single-family homes.

Applications have also been filed to amend the Broward County Land Use Plan and Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) Future Land Use Maps.  Both amendments need to be adopted before this request can be approved.  On January 23, 2024, the Board approved to set the public hearing for all three requests (Item Nos. 27, 28 and 29) on February 20, 2024.

On January 10, 2024, the Resilient Environment Department Local Planning Agency found the proposed rezoning is not currently consistent with the Broward County Comprehensive Plan; however, if the proposed future land use map amendments are approved, the proposed rezoning would be consistent.
