Summary Explanation/Background

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY AND BRIDGE MAINTENANCE DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

On December 13, 2022 (Item No. 27), the Board of County Commissioners approved a $16.676 million Federally Funded Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program (CDBG-MIT) Subrecipient Agreement between Broward County and the State of Florida, Department of Economic Opportunity for the Broadview Park Green Infrastructure for Stormwater Flood Mitigation Project, which included a County contribution of $5.0 million in local match. After completion of the drainage study and preliminary permitting review, it was determined that additional design and engineering services are required to develop the conceptual plans and meet the permit requirements for South Florida Water Management District, FP&L, and other utilities discovered within the project limits.

 

On December 14, 2021 (Item No. 63), the Board of County Commissioners authorized the County Administrator’s execution of the Agreement to provide continuing professional services for CEI and design services for roadway and traffic projects.

 

This item seeks Board approval of Work Authorization No. KCI-018 (Exhibit 1), which provides design and engineering services for the development of conceptual plans for the Broadview Park Green Infrastructure for Stormwater Flood Mitigation Project, in the maximum not-to-exceed amount of $649,588, under the Agreement. The Work Authorization No. KCI-018 scope of services includes engineering analysis, conceptual design, permitting, specification preparation, and construction cost estimation. The Work Authorization No. KCI-018 has a County Business Enterprise (CBE) participation goal of 90.45%.

 

Work Authorization No. KCI-018 has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
