Summary Explanation/Background
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY AND BRIDGE MAINTENANCE DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the Board’s Value of “Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives” and Goal of “Resilient Community”.
On December 10, 2024 (Item No. 48), the Board of County Commissioners approved the MOU between FDACS and Broward County, which formalized Broward County’s role in mosquito control management in accordance with Chapter 388, Florida Statutes, Section 215.97, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 5E-13, Florida Administrative Code, at no cost to Broward County. Under the MOU, Broward County conducts arthropod/mosquito management/control services including submission of monthly and annual documentation to FDACS to demonstrate compliance with service levels. The MOU commenced on December 27, 2024, and its current term ends on September 30, 2025.
