MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on October 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider adoption of a proposed Resolution Amending the Broward County Administrative Code, the title of which is as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO CERTAIN MEMBERSHIP, MEETING, PROCEDURAL, AND SUNSET REQUIREMENTS OF VARIOUS COMMITTEES AND BOARDS; AMENDING SECTIONS 12.153, 12.290, AND 12.293 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE (“ADMINISTRATIVE CODE”); REPEALING PART XIX OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Enables the setting of a public hearing during which the Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) may consider adopting the proposed Resolution Amending the Broward County Administrative Code.

Summary Explanation/Background
In 2025 the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs (“OIA”) conducted a “sunset review” of all existing Broward County boards, authorities, and agencies, as required by Section 2.09 of the Broward County Charter and Sections 1-244 through 1-247 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances. As a result of the sunset review, OIA recommended to the Board that certain boards, authorities, and agencies be “retained with changes” to the applicable authorizing legislation or be retained without changes to the applicable authorizing legislation, while others were to be repealed. The Board directed the County Attorney’s Office to prepare a resolution or ordinance, as applicable, to effectuate OIA’s recommendations.
If adopted, the proposed Resolution will amend the Broward County Administrative Code to implement OIA’s recommendations. A separate agenda item addresses OIA’s recommendations that require amendments to the Broward County Code of Ordinances.
