Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION, AND THE PORT EVERGLADES DEPARTMENT RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Port Everglades Department requests authorization for Joseph Morris, Director of Port Everglades Department, to travel to Bimini, Bahamas. Joseph Morris will be attending the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) PAMAC Cruise Summit on board Virgin Voyage’s Valiant Lady from September 18 - 22, 2024 (Exhibit 1).

The Port has been a Platinum member and marketing partner of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) for more than 20 years, and affords the Department the opportunity to develop business alliances with decision-makers in the cruise industry.

It is important to keep the Port top of mind with such cruise executives as they plan sailing itineraries in the coming years. It is the third largest cruise homeport in the world and participating in the FCCA events is critical to the Port’s marketing and business development strategy.
