MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance adopting Broward County Land Use Plan text amendment PCT 26-9, revising the City of Fort Lauderdale Uptown Activity Center (Commission Districts 4 and 8) as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN TEXT OF THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN REGARDING THE FORT LAUDERDALE UPTOWN ACTIVITY CENTER; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended, Broward County Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be adopted by Ordinance by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body.

The Ordinance adopts Broward County Land Use Plan text amendment PCT 26-9 in accordance with Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed text amendment, PCT 26-9, at its April 23, 2026, public hearing and recommended approval, including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 14-0; Abramson, Brunson, Castillo, Fisher, Geller, Gomez, Greenberg, Hardin, Horland, Levy, Railey, Rosenof, Zeman, and DiGiorgio):

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan Text - City of Fort Lauderdale
Eliminating the geographic restriction for dwelling units within the existing Activity Center area and allowing dwelling units throughout the entire 361.7 acres; the proposed text amendment does not expand or modify any of the adopted intensities or densities.
Approximately 361.7 acres; generally located on the west side of Interstate 95, between McNab Road/C-14 Canal and Northwest 56 Street, bisected by Cypress Creek Road and the CSX Railroad.
