Summary Explanation/Background
THE OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER AND TRAUMA SERVICES RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
County and the University of Miami (“UM”) entered into the Agreement between Broward County and University of Miami for Human Performance Forensic Toxicology Services, dated June 17, 2021 (as amended, the “Agreement”), for UM to analyze biological samples provided by County for drugs and alcohol. This agreement was amended by a First Amendment to extend the agreement through September 16, 2024.
The Office of the Medical Examiner and Trauma Services is requesting approval of the Second Amendment, extending the Agreement for a second extension term, from September 17, 2024, through September 16, 2025, and creating for up to four one-year optional renewals.
The proposed Second Amendment also restores the Purchasing Director’s authority with respect to this Agreement, in accordance with Section 21.47 of the Broward County Purchasing Code.
The Second Amendment is being processed for signature by UM. County staff will advise the Board if UM signatures are not received prior to the September 17, 2024, meeting.
