A. MOTION TO WAIVE Section 18.5.e.1. of the Broward County Administrative Code, which requires that the Board first direct the County Attorney’s Office to draft a proposed Ordinance.
B. MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on June 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO PORT EVERGLADES BUSINESS PERMITS; AMENDING SECTIONS 22½-1 AND 22½-6D OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES (“CODE”); AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
This proposed Ordinance exempts those entities providing charter bus transportation from the Port Everglades (“Port”) business permit requirements. Federal law regulates charter buses and imposes limitations on the degree to which local authorities may regulate those buses. This proposed Ordinance modifies charter bus regulations at the Port to help ensure the safety of the public and the protection of Port property within the limits of applicable law.
