Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action allows BCAD to accept grant funding from FDOT for the planning of the Airfield Electrical Vault project (“Project”) at FLL.
The total cost of planning for the Project (“Planning Cost”) is estimated to be $150,000. As outlined in the PTGA, FDOT will provide grant funding for 50% of the Planning Cost, estimated to be $75,000. Broward County (“County”) will fund the remaining 50% of the Planning Cost, estimated to be $75,000, and will cover any Project cost overruns.
The Airfield Electrical Vault project includes the programming, design, and construction of a new airfield electrical vault, including new electrical equipment and the extension of the existing underground ducts and utility lines to a new location. The vault is needed to accommodate existing and future airfield needs at FLL. The airfield electrical vault houses the equipment necessary for the powering and operation of the airfield lights and navigational aids. The new airfield electrical vault is required to provide space for existing facilities that may be displaced to accommodate future terminal development. This grant is to initiate the planning/programming phase of the Project.
The proposed PTGA has been reviewed by the Office of the County Attorney. The PTGA does not include the County's standard agreement provisions as FDOT requires the County to use its form agreement.
