A. MOTION TO APPROVE grant agreement with Youth Climate Action Fund to receive funding in the amount of $100,000, for the grant period January 1, 2025, through October 31, 2025, and to authorize the County Administrator to execute any amendments to the grant agreement that do not impose any additional financial obligation on County, subject to review and approval as to legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney; and authorize the County Administrator to take all necessary administrative and budgetary actions to implement the grant and allocate and implement subsequent partial awards.
B. MOTION TO ADOPT budget Resolution within the Natural Resources Division’s Youth Climate Action Fund in the amount of $100,000, for the purpose of supporting youth climate action projects.

Board action is required for Agreement approval to accept the grant award and to recognize the award within the Resilient Environment Department.
What Action Accomplishes
This action provides grant funds to administer a microgrant program that engages youth aged 15 to 24 in designing, producing, and overseeing urgent climate solutions.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.
This item supports the County’s value of “Collaborates: Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives” and goal of “Resilient Community: Ensuring accessible, seamlessly integrated investments in renewable energy, sustainable practices, manufacturing, resilient infrastructure, and environmental protection”.
The Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund provides technical assistance and grant funding to support youth aged 15 to 24 in designing, producing, and overseeing urgent climate solutions through local climate focused projects.
Grant funding of $100,000 will support youth-led climate projects through the local distribution of $1,000 - $5,000 microgrants.
Motion A. approves grant agreement from January 1, 2025, to October 31, 2025 (Exhibit 1).
Motion B. adopts a budget Resolution for the award under this agreement in the amount of $100,000 (Exhibit 2).
This agreement does not contain Broward County’s standard terms and conditions. However, the agreement has been provided legal review and approval as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
The agreement (grant) was approved as to form by the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs’ Grant Section.
