Summary Explanation/Background

THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE ANIMAL CARE DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (“ASPCA”) is a non-profit organization founded in 1866 whose purpose is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States”. As one of the nation’s largest grant providers, the ASPCA supports animal welfare organizations that offer sterilization services across the state of Florida. Broward County was awarded this grant to assist in funding the Animal Care Division’s (“Division”) voucher sterilization program, allowing for the spaying/neutering of approximately 334 cats, each receiving an exam, sterilization, a rabies vaccine, and ear-tip, costing no more than $75 per cat. The services provided through this grant will support Broward County communities exclusively.

In accordance with the terms of the Grant Agreement, the Division will submit all requested reports, outcomes, and measures, and submit a final report to the ASPCA no later than January 14, 2027.

The Grant Agreement has been approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
