Summary Explanation/Background
THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE ELDERLY AND VETERANS SERVICES DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action supports the Commission’s value of "building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives” and the goal of "delivering accessible human services that holistically address the whole person collaboratively and compassionately.”
Broward County desires to support the Areawide Council on Aging of Broward County, Inc. (“Council”) in providing home-delivered meals to eligible Broward County seniors.
Eligible recipients are Broward County residents, age 60 and older, who self-report an annual income less than or equal to 150% of the 2024 federal poverty level. They must not be receiving home-delivered meals from any other source.
Retroactive approval is requested because this agreement could not be finalized or executed until the Commission approved the Fiscal Year 2025 General Fund Operating Budget.
The Agreement (Exhibit 1) has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
