MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East, to consider adoption of an Ordinance the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TEXT; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TEXT RELATED TO THE CLIMATE CHANGE ELEMENT, THE RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE ELEMENT, AND THE TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY (LPA), AND THE HOUSING AND URBAN PLANNING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
The proposed amendments to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan’s Climate Change, Recreation and Open Space and Transportation Elements remove references to initiatives that support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
On January 14, 2026, the LPA recommended the Board find proposed Amendment 25-T3 consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. On May 20, 2026, the State responded with no objections to the proposed amendment.
