MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida, authorizing the County Administrator or written designee to sign and execute a Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 4, to provide Fiscal Year 2026 Block Grant funding assistance to Broward County for Public Transportation operating costs in the amount of $11,974,432, which Broward County is required to match, for a total project cost of $23,948,864; authorizing the County Administrator or written designee to take all necessary administrative and budgetary actions to implement the grant; authorizing the County Administrator or written designee to sign any future amendments extending the expiration date of this PTGA that do not pose additional cost or material risk to the County, subject to review and approval of the grant agreement and other documentation for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney; and providing for an effective date.

THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.
This item supports funding of the agency’s operating expenses using the State Fiscal Year 2026 Block Grant. The funding provides operating costs for public transportation services in the urbanized area of Broward County approved by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
The Transportation Department (BCT) is requesting approval of the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) Public Transportation Grant Agreement, which will provide $11,974,432 in state funding for the continued operation of public transportation services. The Block Grant requires a 50% match, for a total project cost of $23,948,864.
This project supports the public in the urbanized area within Broward County in accordance with the requirements of the State Public Transit Block Grant Program.
FDOT provides Block Grant funding on an annual basis, pursuant to Chapter 341, Florida Statutes, for assistance in funding operations for fixed-route bus service. These state funds are available to offset operating expenses incurred by BCT and require an equal local match. This Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) will provide $11,974,432 for State Fiscal Year 2026 to support transit operations in Broward County.
The PTGA has been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Attorney’s Office. County approval of the Resolution and execution of the PTGA is required prior to FDOT executing the agreement.
