Summary Explanation/Background
THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION RETROACTIVELY.
FEMA's Public Assistance Program offers grant funding for emergency response and recovery endeavors in the aftermath of major disasters. The continued disaster relief in response to Federal Disaster Declaration DR-4709 (Florida Severe Storms, Tornadoes, and Flooding), relating to the April 2023 flood event, remains in need of federal funding. This federal funding requires an agreement with the State of Florida's Division of Emergency Management. The cost share for this disaster includes a federal contribution of 75%, state contribution of 12½%, and a County local match contribution of 12½%. The final award determination has not been finalized.
The County Attorney's Office approved the Agreement as to form. Please note that the Agreement has terms that differ from the County's standard terms including a duty to indemnify the State in certain circumstances.
