Summary Explanation/Background

THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE HOUSING AND URBAN PLANNING DIVISION, AND THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The City of Fort Lauderdale and the Fort Lauderdale Housing Authority are requesting this rezoning of the property from Agriculture and Utilities District (A-3), to One Family Detached Dwelling (RS-5) for that portion that fronts Southwest 46 Avenue, and Multifamily Dwelling (RM-16) for the remainder of the property, with the intent to provide affordable housing.

On October 8, 2025, the Local Planning Agency recommended that the Board of County Commissioners find the proposed rezoning to be consistent with the Broward County Comprehensive Plan provided future land use map amendments to both the Broward County Land Use Plan Map (BCLUP) and Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) Future Land Use Map (FLUM) are approved. The public hearings on the BCLUP and BMSD FLUM amendments are being scheduled for the same agenda as this item and must be voted on first.
