MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance amending the Broward County Comprehensive Plan to adopt Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 23-5.B., located in the City of Hollywood, pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended (Commission District 6), the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN OF THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF HOLLYWOOD; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended, Broward County Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be adopted by Ordinance by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body.
What Action Accomplishes
The Ordinance adopts Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 23-5.B. in accordance with Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

December 12, 2023 - The County Commission approved transmittal of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan amendment PC 23-5.B. to designated State review agencies; and February 6, 2024 - Set adoption Public Hearing for February 20, 2024.
Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, recommended approval of amendment PC 23-5 at its October 26, 2023, public hearing. The Planning Council further recommended that the remaining approximately 130.0 acres of golf course be amended from Commercial Recreation to Recreation and Open Space. This amendment will implement the Planning Council’s October 26, 2023, recommendation for Broward County Land Use Plan (BCLUP) map amendment PC 23-5. The applicant has made a voluntary commitment to maintain the 130 +/- golf course as open space in perpetuity and this recommendation enhances the commitment. The applicant nor the City of Hollywood object to this recommendation.
