MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on October 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY; REPEALING ARTICLE XV OF CHAPTER 1 AND SECTIONS 1-292 THROUGH 1-298 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES (“CODE”); AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Applicable law requires the publication of notice and a public hearing for enactment of amendments to the Broward County Code of Ordinances (“Code”).

Summary Explanation/Background
In 1980 Broward County created the Broward County Community Redevelopment Agency (“CRA”). The CRA has been inactive for more than a decade. On February 24, 2024, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity formally declared the CRA to be inactive. This proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would repeal Sections 1-292 through 1-298 pertaining to the CRA, as required by applicable Florida law following the formal finding by the State that the CRA is inactive.
