Summary Explanation/Background

At its meeting of August 29, 2024, the Broward County Planning Council heard from Oakland Park Mayor Mitch Rosenwald regarding existing Tri-Party Educational Mitigation Agreements among the County, The School Board of Broward County, and cities for which the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") has approved Land Use Plan and Land Use Plan text amendments designating Activity Centers within their boundaries. The Planning Council voted unanimously to urge the Board to take appropriate action to release the cities of Coconut Creek, Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Miramar, Oakland Park, Plantation, and Pembroke Pines from the Tri-Party Educational Mitigation Agreements. The memorandum from the Planning Council is being attached as Exhibit 2.

This item was submitted after the deadline for supplemental because the request from the Planning Council and the City of Oakland Park was only recently received. The item is related to Item 54 on the Board's September 17 agenda and, therefore, should not be deferred to a subsequent Board meeting.
