PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the Commission's Healthy Community goal of cultivating community culture, arts, recreation and life-long learning.
Broward County (“County”) has been receiving matching grant funds from the Children’s Services Council of Broward County (“CSC”) since 2002 for the County’s SWIM Central Program, operated by the Broward County Parks and Recreation Division, for water-safety education and instruction for County children on a reimbursement basis.
For Fiscal Year 2026, CSC provided $877,813 in funding for the SWIM Central Program, with a required County contribution of $495,915. The proposed Second Amendment (Exhibit 1) provides that for Fiscal Year 2027, CSC will provide $912,930 for the SWIM Central Program for the period of October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027.
