Summary Explanation/Background
THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITTING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This action supports the goal of ensuring accessible, seamlessly integrated investments in renewable energy, sustainable practices, manufacturing, resilient infrastructure, and environmental protection. Funding the aerial lift achieves the goal of sustainable practices by maintaining the tree canopy in Broward County Parks.

The Parks and Recreation Division has submitted a request for funding from the Tree Preservation Trust Fund (Fund) in the amount of $146,710 for the purchase of an aerial lift. The lift will be used by staff to maintain trees in County Parks and will be able to access areas that cannot be reached by bucket trucks. Section 27-413(d), Broward County Code of Ordinances, was recently amended to include maintenance expenses for sites maintained by the Parks and Recreation Division that have received a distribution from the Fund.
