Summary Explanation/Background

Commissioner Bogen is submitting Peter Deveaugh for appointment to the Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) in the category of "master electrician.” Mr. Deveaugh serves on the Central Examining Board - Division II: Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical Trades (CEB) as the representative of the Broward League of Cities in the “professional electrician” category. As the CEB is subject to Dual Office-Holding prohibition, his appointment by Commissioner Bogen is contingent upon his resignation from his current position on the CEB.

The Broward League of Cities would be able to nominate a new representative to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Deveaugh’s resignation.

Additionally, Mr. Deveaugh’s appointment will effectively remove John Sims from the BORA. Mr. Sims occupies District 2’s position of “mater electrician” on the board, however, he has been inactive for many years.
