Summary Explanation/Background
Section 2.03 of the Broward County Charter provides that the Board elects a Mayor and Vice-Mayor by majority vote each year at the annual organizational meeting, held between the third Tuesday in November and the third Tuesday in December.
Section 18.2 of the Broward County Administrative Code supplements the Charter by outlining nomination order, voting procedure, dais seating, and succession in the event of a vacancy.
This item allows the Board to review these provisions and discuss whether any procedural changes or clarifications are appropriate.
