Why Action is Necessary
The Interlocal Agreement must be approved by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners pursuant to Chapter 19, Part XIII of the Administrative Code.

What Action Accomplishes
Approval of this agreement provides for services and representation by the Building Code Division at hearings before the Unsafe Structures Board on behalf of the Town of Southwest Ranches, effective upon execution, through September 30, 2030.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE BUILDING CODE DIVISION (BCD) RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

It is the policy of the Board of County Commissioners to offer building code services to local municipalities that seek to either supplement their building departments or transfer permitting responsibilities to the County in a full-service arrangement. For those municipalities who do not convene their own Unsafe Structures Board, they can contract with BCD to have their cases researched and presented to the County's Minimum Housing/Unsafe Structures Board at set rates to cover the costs of service. Fees are assessed based on the most current County fee schedule.
