Summary Explanation/Background

The Federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (“BOEM”) is seeking public input regarding its upcoming 11th National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program, which could expand offshore oil and gas drilling off the coast of Broward County. The deadline for public comment is June 16, 2025.

The proposed Resolution, if approved, would convey the Board’s opposition to the inclusion of any new offshore oil and gas leasing off the coast of Florida in the 11th National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program.
