MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution, the title of which is as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE INCLUSION OF NEW OFFSHORE OIL AND GAS LEASING OFF THE COAST OF FLORIDA IN THE 2024-2029 NATIONAL OUTER CONTINENTAL SHELF OIL AND GAS LEASING PROGRAM; DIRECTING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO TRANSMIT A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO DESIGNATED RECIPIENTS; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (“BOEM”) is seeking public input regarding its upcoming 11th National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program, which could expand offshore oil and gas drilling off the coast of Broward County. The deadline for public comment is June 16, 2025.
The proposed Resolution, if approved, would convey the Board’s opposition to the inclusion of any new offshore oil and gas leasing off the coast of Florida in the 11th National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program.
