MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on October 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO CLAIMS AGAINST OR BY THE COUNTY; AMENDING SECTION 1-51.3 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES (“CODE”); AMENDING DELEGATED SETTLEMENT AUTHORITIES; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Applicable law requires the publication of notice and a public hearing for enactment of amendments to the Broward County Code of Ordinances (“Code”).

Summary Explanation/Background
Section 1-51.3 of the Code sets forth the types and amounts of claims that may be resolved by the County Administrator and the County Attorney without requiring Commission action. The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would permit the County Administrator or her written delegee to approve payment plans for the recovery of amounts owed to the County, provided the payment plan, if fully performed, would result in full payment of the principal amount owed (i.e., excluding late fees and interest).
