AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO LICENSURE OF CHILD CARE FACILITIES; REPEALING ARTICLE XV OF CHAPTER 20 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE"), REPEALING AND REPLACING CHAPTER 7 OF THE CODE, AND AMENDING SECTION 81/2-16 OF THE CODE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
Broward County regulates the operation of child care facilities and family child care homes in Broward County, as permitted by Florida law. The applicable local regulations, codified in Chapter 7 and Article XV of Chapter 20, respectively, of the Broward County Code of Ordinances (collectively, the "Child Care Ordinances"), set forth licensing standards that are equal to or more stringent than the state standards.
As the local licensing agency, the County's Child Care Licensing and Enforcement Section ("CCLE") enforces not only the Child Care Ordinances but also certain State statutes and rules promulgated by the Florida Department of Children and Families ("DCF").
Due to substantive revisions by DCF in the state minimum standards, CCLE has revised the County's Child Care Ordinances to ensure they meet or exceed state minimum standards. The proposed Ordinance is recommended by CCLE...
