Summary Explanation/Background

This is an employment discrimination action brought by a former Broward County employee. The Complaint alleges that the discriminatory actions of Broward County led the employee to resign his position, resulting in damages including back pay, out-of-pocket expenses, and emotional distress.

 

The Plaintiff has agreed to release Broward County from all claims arising from his lawsuit in exchange for $150,000, which includes costs and attorneys’ fees, subject to Board approval.

 

Water and Wastewater Services and the County Attorney’s Office recommend approval of this settlement.
