Summary Explanation/Background

Under Major Disaster Declaration FEMA-4709-DR-FL, signed by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., on April 27, 2023, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated $29,222,000 in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to Broward County, Florida.

Currently, $12,967,000 of CDBG-DR funding is allocated to multifamily affordable housing new construction projects. This item provides for Board discussion regarding the potential use of these funds to support smaller-scale affordable housing development projects with fewer than 70 units.
