Summary Explanation/Background
THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT, URBAN PLANNING DIVISION, AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The proposed historic resource designation supports Broward County Land Use Plan Policy 2.30.1 which provides that "the Broward County Land Use Plan and local plans shall map and maintain a current list of historically, architecturally and archaeologically significant properties and address the protection of these historic resources."

On April 17, 2025, the Historic Preservation Board (HPB) recommended that Curci House, also known as Villa Providence, located in the City of Hallandale Beach, be designated as a historic resource. The site is located at 324 SW 2nd Avenue and is owned and managed by the City of Hallandale Beach. Designation of the Curci House as a historic resource is consistent with the criteria contained in Sections 5-533(a)(2)a. and c. and Section 5-533(a)(4) of the Code.

The Urban Planning Division requested comments from the City and they had no objections.

On August 21, 2025 (Item No. 21) the Board approved the Set the Public Hearing.
