MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on February 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Government Center East, to consider adoption of a Resolution the title of which is as follows:
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, TRANSMITTING TO DESIGNATED STATE AGENCIES A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE DEEPWATER PORT COMPONENT OF THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Section 163.3184 requires Broward County to publish notice of public hearings to transmit proposed comprehensive plan amendments.

THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY (LPA), AND THE HOUSING AND URBAN PLANNING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Pursuant to Chapter 163.3177(6)(g), Florida Statutes, local governments identified in Section 380.24, Florida Statutes, must include a Coastal Management Element (CME) in the Comprehensive Plan. Chapter 163.3178 requires the CME to include a master plan component for any ports located within the local government's jurisdiction. The Broward County Administrative Code, Chapter 16 - Organization, Port Everglades, provides for the update of the Port Everglades Master Vision Plan (PEMVP) and its incorporation into the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
