Summary Explanation/Background
THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

Approval of this motion directs the Office of the County Attorney to draft an Ordinance amending Chapter 20, Article VII, Division 3, Licensing and Certification of Motor Vehicle Body Repair and Motor Vehicle Painting Shops and Technicians, and Division 4, Licensing and Certification of Motor Vehicle Repair Shops and Technicians, modifying licensing and certification requirements.

These amendments will require resolution of outstanding fines, penalties, or other enforcement actions prior to licensure or license renewal. Additionally, programs certifying technicians other than AATI (American Advanced Technicians Institute) or ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence), may be approved by the Division.
