Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 29.17(d)(3) of the Broward County Administrative Code, Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Board") approval is required for all grant awards and associated grant award agreements greater than $250,000.
What Action Accomplishes
Approves grant funding to support the operating expenses for the Museum of Discovery and Science, Inc., and authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to execute the grant agreement.

CULTURAL DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the Board's Healthy Community Goal of cultivating community culture, arts, recreation, and life-long learning.
The Cultural Division's General Operating Support ("GOS") grant supports Broward based arts, and cultural organizations in the production and presentation of ongoing, sustainable, high-quality artistic activities that engage Broward County residents and visitors. The GOS grant program is the primary vehicle for supporting and strengthening the organizational capacity of grantees by providing multi-year, unrestricted operating support.
