Summary Explanation/Background
Chapter 15 of the Code establishes the membership composition of the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") Council, which currently includes representatives of medical, fire rescue, hospital, emergency management, and other community stakeholder entities.

The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would amend Chapter 15 of the Code to add a County Commissioner, nominated by the Mayor, as a member of the EMS Council. The County Commissioner would be exempt from the attendance, removal, and reappointment provisions in Section 1-233 of the Code.

The proposed Ordinance would also amend the responsibilities of the EMS Review Committee to align with previous amendments to Chapter 31/2 of the Code, clarifying that the Committee is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on all new applicat...
