Summary Explanation/Background
Senate Bill 1134 (2026) prohibits counties from funding or promoting, directly or indirectly, or taking any official action relating to the promotion or adoption of training, programming, or activities designed or implemented with reference to race, color, sex, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Senate Bill 1134 takes effect January 1, 2027, and—as currently construed based on the limited guidance available to date—would preclude the continuation of two advisory boards: the Racial Equity Task Force; and the Status on the Commission of Women. The proposed Ordinance repeals the applicable Code provisions relating to these two advisory boards, effective as of December 31, 2026.
