THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action approves the On-Airport Land Lease for the continued operation and maintenance of the Air Traffic Control Tower at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
On August 3, 1982 (Item No. 4), the Board approved a lease between the County and the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) for the operation of the Air Traffic Control Tower (“ATCT”) at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (“FLL”).
The proposed On-Airport Land Lease succeeds the prior lease, commences retroactively on October 1, 2022, continues through September 30, 2042, and updates certain terms and conditions. The initial draft of the On-Airport Land Lease between the FAA and Broward County was not received by the Broward County Aviation Department until October 2023.
