Summary Explanation/Background
In prior years, the Board authorized the County Administrator to execute the required Letters of Agreement (“LOAs”) as part of the annual resolution imposing the Local Provider Participation Fund special assessment. This year, the assessment rate-setting process has been delayed pending federal approvals, and no assessment has yet been imposed for the upcoming program year. AHCA has requested that participating local governments execute and return placeholder LOAs by October 1, 2026.

The placeholder LOAs establish maximum potential funding amounts and do not obligate the County to transfer funds or impose an assessment. Execution of the placeholder LOAs does not affect the annual assessment process required by the Broward County Local Provider Participation Fund Ordinance, including satisfaction of the applicable requirements by participating hospitals and subsequent Board consideration of whether to impose the assessment.
