Summary Explanation/Background
During Fiscal Year 26 Budget Workshops considerable discussion occurred regarding the use of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for homeownership. The Affordable Housing Trust Fund currently has $5,000,000 available for homeowner purchase assistance. Homeownership programs not only provide affordable housing for the new home owner(s), it also has the effect of stabilizing neighborhoods and provides wealth building opportunities for the new owner(s). The recommended process will be brought back to the County Commission for consideration in a future agenda item.
